Amandla Stenberg & Maria Bakalova to Lead A24’s Bodies, Bodies, Bodies

On the heels of landing both Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for her breakout role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Maria Bakalova has already lined up another big project on her dance card by joining Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) for the A24 thriller Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, according to Deadline.

Though plot details are being kept close to the chest by the studio, sources bring word that the film is being described as “a secret slasher film” that has Halina Reijn (Instinct) currently set in the director’s chair at the studio, who has quietly been developing the package over the past several months and waiting for schedules to come together with a cast list that has become incredibly busy in recent months.

While A24 is keeping mum about the project, it is interesting to note a film with a similar title was first put into development three years ago when the studio purchased the spec script from “Cat Person” author Kristen Roupenian and attached Chloe Okuno (Audrey Rose) to rewrite and direct the film. It’s currently unknown, however if the two are the same film.

In addition to The Eddy star and award nominee, the studio is also in talks with Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Island, The Suicide Squad) and Myha’la Herrold (The Book of Mormon, Industry) to join its cast, though deals are not yet closed for the two.

Bodies, Bodies, Bodies will be produced and financed by A24 alongside 2AM’s David Hinojosa.
