Keanu Reeves Answers the Door for Eli Roth’s Knock Knock

Knock Knock… who’s there? It’s Keanu Reeves!

In the past few years, horror filmmaker Eli Roth has made a return to actually making films, with his latest The Green Inferno opening soon after premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival and other festivals since. Roth isn’t dragging his heels with a follow-up either with his psychological thriller Knock Knock ready to go now that Keanu Reeves has committed to play the film’s central male lead.

According to Deadline, Reeves will play a happily married man alone at home for the weekend who is visited by two beautiful young women who proceed to “turn his life upside down.”

Those two deadly women will be played by Lorenza Izzo from The Green Inferno and Ana de Armas, while another “Green Inferno” star, Ignacia Allmand, will play Reeves’ wife in the film. The film’s producer Colleen Camp will play a role as will Aaron Burns, who shot second unit and worked on the visual FX of “Green Inferno.”

Continuing his collaboration with Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo, who co-wrote and are co-producing the film in attempt to further something Roth has called “Chile-wood,” production is set to begin April 14 in Santiago, Chile with Reeves also coming on board as an executive producer.

Roth told Deadline: “I had a window before I promote Green Inferno, and I wanted to make a movie like Roman Polanski or Paul Verhoeven made when they were young, a classic psychosexual thriller that’s not a horror movie, but would have everyone on the edge of their seats. Getting Keanu is amazing, he’s a fine actor who is perfect for this. I feel I can have this movie ready for Toronto if I need to, and he’s catching a plane tomorrow and we’ll be fitting him for wardrobe right away.”

So far, there is no distribution deal in place for the movie, but one expects the upcoming Cannes Film Festival will play a part in the negotiations–Roth plans on having footage ready to show there–and odds are good that the film will be finished in time to premiere at the prestigious “Midnight Madness” track of the Toronto International Film Festival, just like The Green Inferno and Lopez’s Aftershock, in which Roth co-starred.
