Music Teaser: Kate Hudson Leads Sia’s Directorial Debut Film

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sia has finally released the first teaser trailer for her forthcoming directorial debut film titled Music, featuring Golden Globe winner Kate Hudson as she tries to take care of her teenage half-sister who has autism. Also starring Sia’s long-time collaborator Maddie Ziegler, the film is scheduled to arrive in select IMAX theaters on February 12, 2021, which is the same date as the release of Sia’s new album. The film follows the story of Zu, a newly sober drug dealer who unexpectedly becomes the new guardian of her teenage half-sister named Music, who is on the autism spectrum. Zu struggles at first to care for Music, a special-needs teens, but with an inward journey of discovery — with assistance from a friendly neighbor,  who possesses helpful advice from experience — soon puts her on an eye-opening path. The film is being described as a cinematic experience that will fused big musical sequences to its narrative storytelling in order to see the bright and colorful world through Music’s eyes.

Music stars Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), Maddie Ziegler (The Book of Henry, West Side Story) and Leslie Odom Jr.  (Hamilton). It will also feature Hector Elizondo, Mary Kay Place, Tig Notaro, Ben Schwartz and Juliette Lewis.

Music is directed and produced by Sia, who also co-written the screenplay with Dallas Clayton. The award-winning artist’s upcoming album release will be serving as the film’s soundtrack which features ten original songs performed by the cast. It is expected to be release internationally earlier next year.
