Wes Ball to Helm Amblin’s First Fifteen Lives of Harry August Adaptation

According to Vital Thrills, Wes Ball (The Maze Runner franchise) will helm Amblin Partners’ adaptation of Claire North’s sci-fi novel The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August after Amblin acquired feature film rights to the book.

In the movie, a man repeatedly born into the same life, who remembers all his past experiences, seeks to save the world by outmaneuvering a similarly gifted rival who’s willing to make any sacrifice to attain godlike knowledge.

Melissa Iqbal (Humans, The Nevers) has adapted the novel. Academy Award nominees Peter Czernin and Graham Broadbent (Emma, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) of Blueprint Picture will produce along with Joe Hartwick Jr. (Jumper, The Maze Runner) of Oddball Entertainment. Amblin Partners’ President of Production Jeb Brody and Andrew Calof, VP of Creative Affairs, will oversee for the studio.

Published on April 8, 2014, The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August won the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel and was nominated for the Arthur C. Clarke Award for Best Science Fiction Novel.
