Taika Waititi Signs on to Executive Produce Sci-Fi Thriller Night Raiders

Written and directed by Danis Goulet in her directorial debut, the film is set in a post-war North America in which a military occupation controls disenfranchised cities. The story sees children as property of the state and a desperate Cree woman joining an underground band of vigilantes to infiltrate a state children’s academy to get her daughter back.

In addition to Plummer, the cast is also set to star Elle-Maija Tailfeathers (Blood Quantum), Alex Tarrant (The Hunt), Brooklyn Letexier-Hart and Shaun Sipos (Krypton). The project, which is currently shooting in and around Toronto, is a co-production between Canada and New Zealand, making the Kiwi’s choice to executive produce the film a no-brainer.

The 44-year-old writer/director is currently doing the press rounds for his anti-Nazi satire Jojo Rabbit, in which he also stars as Adolf Hitler and has been receiving awards season-level buzz, and is set to begin production soon on his sports dramedy biopic Next Goal Wins starring Michael Fassbender (Dark Phoenix), which is planned for a late 2020 release.
