Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone are fully set to reprise their voice roles in DreamWorks Animation’s forthcoming sequel to their 2013 box office hit, The Croods. Directors Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco confirmed the news this morning to ComingSoon.net during an interview to promote the home video release of the original.
With a worldwide gross of more than $585 million, The Croods also stars Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman and follows the adventures of a primitive family learning to survive in a fantastic (but dangerous) stone age world.
“There’s not much to talk about yet,” says Sanders of the next adventure, “because we’ve got a big lump of clay and we’re forming it as we speak.”
What is certain, however, is that both men aim to make the sequel to The Croods every bit as colorful as the original.
“[There will be] lots of good creatures,” DeMicco promises. “We’ve got creatures that never got into the first movie. We’re going to take a very, very close look at those.”
Check back soon for the full interview and catch The Croods on DVD and Blu-ray October 1st.
