New Stills From The Hobbit, Gravity, Grudge Match, Prisoners and Her

As part of a preview of the remainder of their 2013 release slate, Warner Bros. has brought online a number of new stills for forthcoming films like Prisoners, Gravity, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Her and Grudge Match. Check out all the new stills below!

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Prisoners arrives September 20 and stars Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Maria Bello, Terrance Howard, Viola Davis, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano. The film follows Keller Dover, a man facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His 6-year-old daughter and her young friend are missing, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect’s release. Knowing his child’s life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?

Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, set for release on October 4, stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. In it, Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

The second part of Peter Jackson’s new trilogy, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. It hits theaters December 13.

Set in Los Angeles, slightly in the future, Spike Jonze’s Her follows Theodore Twombly, a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system, which promises to be an intuitive entity in its own right, individual to each user. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet “Samantha,” a bright, female voice, who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow, in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual love for each other. From the unique perspective of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Spike Jonze comes an original love story that explores the evolving nature—and the risks—of intimacy in the modern world. Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde and Scarlett Johansson star in the December 18 release.

Peter Segal’s Grudge Match, arriving December 25, stars Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Kevin Hart, Kim Basinger and Alan Arkin and revolves around retired boxers Billy “The Kid” McDonnen and Henry “Razor” Sharp, lifelong bitter rivals who are coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match — 50 years after their last title fight.
