Comic-Con: Viral Marketing for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Begins!

We’ve seen the launch of some very impressive viral marketing campaigns for some key films in the past few days. X-Men: Days of Future Past teased the Trask Industries Sentinel, RoboCop debuted a look at Omnicorp’s robot technology, Godzilla‘s “Encounter” website has teased the beast making landfall, and now Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has debuted a site dedicated to educating us on the dangers of “Simian Flu.”

If you recall from 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the same chemical that enhanced the apes proved to be fatal to humans. The website, SimianFlu.com, explains all the symptoms of the disease as well as an interactive map showing a timeline of its spread. You can check it out by clicking here and take a look at their PSA below.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be holding their panel at Hall H today and we will be in attendance. Check back here for live updates from the panel!

Directed by Matt Reeves with a script from Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa and Mark Bomback, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes continues the story that began in 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and features a cast that includes Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, Jocko Sims, and Judy Greer.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will open on July 18, 2014.
