Exclusive Media Boards Jackie Chan’s New Action Comedy Skiptrace

Exclusive Media has come on board to produce and co-finance Academy Award nominated Sam Fell’s (ParaNorman) action comedy Skiptrace, starring Jackie Chan (“Rush Hour” films, The Karate Kid) and international rising star Bingbing Fan (X-Men: Days of Future Past), it was announced today by Exclusive Media’s Co-Chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East and Beijing based Talent International Film Co., Ltd.’s President Esmond Ren.

Skiptrace will be produced as a Sino-Foreign co-production by Exclusive Media and Talent International, who will also co-finance the film. In addition to starring, Chan is a producer on Skiptrace. David Gerson is also attached to produce. The project was brought to Exclusive Media by Cyrte Investments’ Charlie Coker, who will act as executive producer on the film along with Cyrte.

Exclusive Media is handling international rights to the film and President of International Sales and Distribution, Alex Walton will present the film to buyers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Exclusive Media’s Senior Executive VP, Production, Damien Saccani will oversee the production on behalf of the company.

Based on Chan’s original idea, Skiptrace is written by Jay Longino and co-written by The Sitter scribes Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. The action comedy follows a Hong Kong detective (Chan) who is tasked with tracking down a mouthy American gambler on the run from his creditors. The men form an unlikely partnership and attempt to take down Hong Kong’s most notorious criminal, while embarking on a wild journey through some of China’s most scenic and exotic locales.

“After a career spanning 40 years, Jackie Chan is at the top of his game and we are delighted to be partnering with him and our friends at Cyrte on ‘Skiptrace’ – it’s a fun, action filled script and has the hallmark of a blockbuster hit,” said Nigel Sinclair and Guy East.

“Jackie Chan is one of the few actors who has proven ability to appeal to audiences worldwide and over and over again does not disappoint at the box office. It’s good to see him champion a genre that he excels at – the action comedy,” said Alex Walton.

“This movie is about an adventure that brings together different cultures, and we are excited to begin, with our partners at Cyrte and Exclusive, the adventure of making a true US-China co-production that will appeal to audiences around the world,” said Esmond Ren.
