New Velvet Buzzsaw poster promises all art is dangerous
Netflix has unveiled a new poster for its upcoming horror movie Velvet Buzzsaw. The movie, from writer-director Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler, Roman J. Israel, Esq.), is a thriller set in the shallow, vapid world of L.A.’s contemporary art scene, where big money artists and mega-collectors pay a high price when art collides with commerce. You can check out the poster in the gallery below!
Things start to go south in the art community after a series of paintings are found in a dead hermit’s apartment. Before long, they become all the rage in the art community, until their supernatural powers slowly start creeping off of the canvas and into real-life.
Velvet Buzzsaw reunites Gilroy with Nightcrawler stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo. It co-stars Toni Collette (Hereditary), Zawe Ashton (Nocturnal Animals), Tom Sturridge (Sweetbitter), Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things), Daveed Diggs (Blindspotting), and John Malkovich (Bird Box).
The film will have its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival later this month before premiering on Netflix on February 1.
