Bird Box Hits 45 Million Views in One Week According to Netflix

Days after the original film’s release on the streaming service, Netflix has announced that Bird Box has been viewed by 45,037,125 Netflix accounts. giving it the best first 7 days ever for a Netflix movie.

Netflix has never been one to share much information about their viewing metrics however, and details are still sparse about what counts as a “view” for the feature film (it’s unclear if accounts had to watch the entire film for it to be a view, or if only part of the film has to be seen). This does mark the first time that Netflix has revealed actual numbers for its original programming, stay tuned as we learn more about the success of Bird Box!

Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock (GravityCrash) leads an all-star cast that includes Trevante Rhodes (MoonlightThe Predator), with Golden Globe winner Sarah Paulson (American Crime StoryOcean’s Eight), and Oscar nominee John Malkovich (In the Line of FireBurn After Reading) in the compelling new thriller from Academy Award winner Susanne Bier (In a Better WorldThe Night Manager). Bier directed the movie from a screenplay by Eric Heisserer (Arrival).
