October Horror Movie Recommendation: Chosen Survivors
Every day for the month of October, Coming Soon is making a new horror movie recommendation for those eager to find a new frightening flick for Halloween. From the creepy goodness of a classy ghost story to a blood-spattered gorefest and everything in between, we’ll have something for every taste of horror. And today’s pick is…
What’s Chosen Survivors about: When a computer selects a group of American citizens of varying backgrounds (athlete, rich guy, etc) to survive a cataclysmic nuclear attack in an underground bunker, all seems (sorta, not really) hunky dory for those that survived… except for the vampire bats that snuck their way into the ventilation system.
Why Chosen Survivors rules: This is the kind of overlooked 70’s horror gem that really deserves more of an audience. The premise of a group of people selected to survive the apocalypse is already rife with drama, but adding vampire bats into the mix is the cherry on top. And don’t worry, the movie has even more surprises up its sleeve beyond that.
How scary is Chosen Survivors: The movie isn’t that particularly violent, although those who might be triggered by sexual assault may want to steer clear.
Be on the lookout for: The film is full of familiar faces from 70’s cinema, including Jackie Cooper, Richard Jaeckel, Bradford Dillman and Barbara Babcock.
Where to watch Dead Silence: The best way to view this film is by picking up a copy of Kino Lorber’s recent Blu-ray, which you can purchase by clicking here.
