Top K-Pop Girl Groups of 2024: TWICE, Le Sserafim, (G)I-DLE & More

The global impact of the K-pop girl group is taking an international stage in 2024. Be it award shows or new music releases, female acts are ruling the music charts and snagging top accolades. The year began with ITZY, Nmixx, and (G)I-DLE making a comeback. In February, TWICE and Le SSerafim returned to the scene with chart-topping performances.

As fans await the top male groups’ comeback, let’s look at the top female groups of 2024.

Nmixx

JYP Entertainment’s new girl group Nmixx debuted in 2022 with their single album Ad Mare. Since its debut, the group has paved its success graph with catchy music and stylish choreographies. Nmixx dropped their second EP, Fe3O4: Break, on  January 15, 2024, with the lead single “Dash.”

The album’s funky rhythms and fresh sounds became popular as it sold over 703,495 copies in South Korea within the first week. The album peaked at number 1 on South Korea’s Circle Album Chart and ranked number 2 on the US World Chart.

The official “Dash” music video clocked over 26 million YouTube views since its release, becoming one of January’s most popular K-pop music video releases.

ITZY

JYP Entertainment’s group ITZY, with members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna, returned to music with their studio album, Born to Be, on January 8, 2024. The album’s lead single, “Untouchable,” flaunted the group’s ease of acing EDM-infused tracks.

The album also performed commercially well across the charts. It sold over 554,463 copies within a week in South Korea, peaking at number 1 on South Korea’s Circle Album Chart. The album also peaked at number 2 on Billboard’s US World chart. The official music video for “Untouchable” has garnered over 17 million YouTube views since its release.

Le Sserafim

HYBE’s K-pop girl group, Le Sserafim, dropped their highly anticipated album, Easy, on February 19, 2024. The album surpassed 977,946 copies sales within a week of its release, debuting at number 1 on the Circle Album Chart. The album’s “Easy” title track received over 45 million views on YouTube within one week.

Easy’s tracks also topped the iTunes chart in 18 regions, including Brazil, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Thailand, and more. Furthermore, the album topped the iTunes’ U.S. Top Albums chart on February 20th, becoming the group’s first album to rank first.

Le Sserafim’s competition in the chart was another popular group, TWICE, who dropped their comeback album in the same week. Le Sserafim outperformed them domestically, but the latter charted above on Billboard 200. HYBE’s Le Sserafim ranked 8th on Billboard 200.

TWICE

K-pop’s history-making girl group TWICE released their 13th mini album With YOU-th on February 23. The spring release sold over 965,237 album copies within a week, ranking second on the Circle Album Chart.

The album’s title track, “One Spark,” garnered over 17 million views within five days of its release, becoming one of the most-viewed K-pop MVs of the week. The album delivered TWICE’s first Billboard 200 top ranking. With YOU-th sold over 95,000 albums in the U.S. in the week ending February 29.

(G)I-DLE

K-pop power group (G)I-DLE returned with their second studio album in January. It marked the group’s new record, selling over 1,163,395 copies within a week. The album received million-seller status within two days of its release, making (G)I-DLE the 5th highest-ranking K-pop girl group for all-time initial release sales. The group stands behind Aespa, New Jeans, Ive, and Black Pink.

The album also peaked at number 1 on the Circle Album Chart and ranked number 13 on Billboard’s US World Chart. The album’s title track, “Super Lady,” garnered over 62 million views on YouTube, becoming one of the most-watched K-pop music videos of the year.
