Because the two series share the same director Kim Sang-Hyeop, the crossover was widely popular among fans. In one of the now-famous scenes in True Beauty, Kim Hye-Yoon reprised her role as Eun Dan-Oh from Extraordinary You.
Extraordinary You follows the journey of high school student Eun Dan-Oh, who realizes she is a character in the comic book. Although her character behaves in her own accord, the artist draws her and narrates her story. Eventually, she decides to change her fate and find the love of her life. The same Eun Dan-Oh appears in True Beauty, watching a movie with fellow character Baek-Kyung (Lee Jae-Wook).
Cha Eun-Woo’s character, Lee Soo-Ho, mistakes Dan-Oh for Ju-Gyeong (Moon Ga-Young) and confronts them. He apologizes after realizing his misunderstanding. Meanwhile, Dan-Oh hears the iconic Extraordinary You page flip sound and calls out for her lover Ha-Ru (Rowoon), with Jae-Kyung following her.
