Eventually, she befriends two boys, Lee Su-Ho (Cha Eun-Woo) and Han Seo-Jun (Hwang In-Yeop), who see her for who she is.

After the first season of True Beauty ended on a happy note, many viewers loved the drama. Joo-Kyung and Su-Ho’s reunion was immensely celebrated. It wasn’t just because of the plot and the cast, but also because of its message. Many viewers have also been speculating about a second season, as the original webtoon has more stories to explore.

Fans could relate to Joo-Kyung’s predicament of being insecure and ultimately to her journey of self-acceptance and self-love. Moreover, her love story with Su-Ho and Seo-Jun being one of the most favorite second leads only added to the popularity of the series.

Does True Beauty Season 1 have a happy ending?

Since True Beauty introduced two leads, Lee Su-Ho (Cha Eun-Woo) and Han Seo-Jun (Hwang In-Yeop), vying for Lim Joo-Kyung’s (Moon Ga-Young) love, fans eagerly awaited the final episode to see who she ends up with. The drama’s ending provided a happy ending for Joo-Kyung and Su-Ho. It also gave satisfying closure to the concept of friendship.

Episode 16 of True Beauty begins with Su-Ho witnessing Seo-Jun hugging Joo-Kyung. The boys step out for a drink when Su-Ho asks Seo-Jun if he has feelings for Joo-Kyung. The latter lies, saying that they are dating, but Su-Ho refuses to believe him. The two share a laugh and begin drinking. Meanwhile, Joo-Kyung is in her final predicament in the love story.

Finally, Joo-Kyung realises her true love rested not with Seo Jun but blossomed for Su-ho. Realizing her true feelings for Su-Ho, she decides to come clean to Seo-Jun. However, the latter doesn’t give her the chance to do so. Instead, he helps her reunite with Su-Ho. Seo-Jun lies to Joo-Kyung saying that Su-Ho is going abroad and is packing his bags. This was his way of letting her go and potentially coming to terms with the fact that he’d lost his first love.

Joo-Kyung runs to meet Su-Ho but sees him unpack. Although their love story set sail at that moment, viewers felt sad for Seo-Jun. He breaks into tears over the heartbreak. Later, Joo-Kyung meets him to apologize for hurting him. He handles the conversation incredibly well. Seo-Jun states it was important for him to go through rejection, but asks her not to feel sorry for him.

Seo-Jun also promises her that he’ll move on, given that his impending debut will keep him busy. Meanwhile, Kang Soo-Jin (Park Yu-Na) also returns to apologize to Joo-Kyung for hurting her. Soo-Jin also says that latter her parents’ divorce helped her free herself from the toxicity and abuse that she’d gone through.

Eventually, everything slowly falls into place. While Su-Ho sends his song composition ahead, Joo-Kyung advances in his pursuit of a professional career. Seo-Jun sings the composition at Im Hee-Kyung’s (Im Se-Mi) wedding. Joo-Kyung even prepares Seo-Jun for his debut performance, indicating all’s well between the two.

The episode as well as the series ends with a closure for Joo-Kyung and Su-Ho. The two head back to the comic book store where they first met and share a kiss.

Although fans are eagerly waiting for True Beauty Season 2, they can stream the first season of the series on Viki.
