The highly awaited K-drama Blood Free returned with episode 8 on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 4 p.m. KST on Disney Plus. The episode saw BF Group CEO Yoon Ja-Yoo (Han Hyo-Joo) promising to experiment with her cell culture technology on herself before she would do it for others.

To make a dominant species, Ja-Yoo decided to replace all her organs with the preserved cultured organs in the company. She then asked for test subjects, especially people who suffered from terminal illnesses, who could get a new chance at life.

Blood Free episode 8: Han Hyo-Joo fires Ju Ji-Hoon

Blood Free episode 8 began by showcasing spy Jung Hae-Dun’s activities. She sent pictures of the biotechnology lab to former President Lee Mun-Gyu. Furthermore, she coerced Kim Shin-Gu into joining the support group and also led a protester against BF Group to fall to his death to create issues for Ja-Yoo and the company. The scene shifted to when Ja-Yoo asked Woo Chae-Woon (Ju Ji-Hoon) to explain his real purpose for entering BF Group.

The latter revealed that he chose to join BF Group as a bodyguard to see whether or not Ja-Yoo was behind the Azoran terror attack in January 2024. Upon hearing this, Ja-Yoo shoved him, suspecting her bodyguard of collaborating with Prime Minister Seon Woo-Jae to bring down BF Group. However, Chae-Woon declined these allegations, confirming a few of her doubts.

Chae-Woon maintained that he would find the killer, Park Sang-Min, who murdered fellow bodyguard Ho-Seung. Ja-Yoo then fired him from his position and left. Meanwhile, On San and Seo Hui experimented to study Hae-Dun’s brain waves. However, due to the latter’s resistance, they could only see a few images on the screen. They discovered that Hae-Dun arranged for the protestor to fall on top of Ja-Yoo’s car after the event. Ja-Yoo told Hae-Dun that she reported her missing, accusing Hae-Dun of infiltrating BF Group and running away.

Ja-Yoo threatened to reveal Hae-Dun and the Seon family’s connections, asking her teammates to feed her meals until she confessed who the killer was. On the other hand, Chae-Woon met with the head of the welfare center. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Woo-Jae held a meeting with his ministers, asking the attorney general to launch an investigation into BF Group over the company’s monopoly over the market. He manipulated the ministers by lying that Ja-Yoo only cared about making profits.

Ja-Yoo headed to Chae-Woon’s place to pack up her things. She recalled her conversation with him and Ho-Seung. Chae-Woon spoke about his niece’s diary allergy and her subsequent bullying in the US. Ja-Yoo then reflected on her parents only being able to send her twin sister to study abroad. After gaining her composure, she thought about the late Ho-Seung, who sacrificed himself for the company at a young age.

At Ho-Seung’s funeral, Chae-Woon met with On San and told the latter about how Kim Shin-Gu was brainwashed in a short period. Chae-Woon discovered that Shin-Gu and Sang-Min attended a few classes of the support group. One time, they skipped a meeting to have lunch together and never returned to any of these classes. Chae-Woon gave the police’s number to On San, asking them to pass on any information they knew to the police from now on.

The following morning, Seo Hui continued his experiment on Hae-Dun to make her confess. When On San went to feed her, Hae-Dun tried to get her way by expressing her interest in On San. She further lied that the woman she texted was someone who treated her well when they first met.

Meanwhile, Hae-Dun tried to cut the metal straps around her with the lunch spoon. Upon reaching BF Group, Ja-Yoo hatched a plan. She sent a letter to the stakeholders, informing them of an upcoming M&A attempt by outside forces. Ja-Yoo revealed that the company will issue stocks that are relatively cheaper for the stakeholders to buy and show their support for the group. She soon realized that BF wasn’t even close to Dorson in terms of company values.

To put up a fight against Seon Woo-Gun and Woo-Jae, Ja-Yoo decided to appeal directly to the masses. Using AI, she approached people in the country, urging people with terminal illnesses to become test subjects for the company’s organoids project. The team cultured human organs using cell culture technology. Ja-Yoo further revealed that she would first become the test subject and replace all her organs before experimenting on people.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Woo-Jae accused Ja-Yoo of advertising her products and not caring about people’s health. While this drew mixed reactions from citizens, On San slammed Ja-Yoo for taking a drastic step. However, he recalled that the woman he saw in Hae-Dun’s subconscious was the late protestor’s wife. Ja-Yoo met with Chae-Woon, who expressed his desire to showcase himself as a successful result of Ja-Yoo’s project, but Ja-Yoo insisted on going through with the procedure, assuring Chae-Woon of making it another successful mission.

By the end of the episode, Chae-Woon met with former President Lee Mun-Gyu. He confirmed that Ja-Yoo wasn’t behind the terror attack. Chae-Woon wished to meet with Mun-Gyu’s daughter (Woo-Gun’s ex-wife). Upon realizing that Chae-Woon suspected Woo-Gun and Woo-Jae of orchestrating the Arozan terror attack, Mun-Gyu asked him to leave. The episode ended with Chae-Woon meeting Woo-Gun’s wife.
