In Chief Detective 1958 episode 3, Young-Han (Lee Je-Hoon), Kim Sang-Soon (Lee Dong-Hwi), Cho Kyung-Hwan (Choi Woo-Sung), and Seo Ho-Jeong (Yoon Hyun-Soo) are asked to catch petty beggars. When they get a hold of them, Young-Han does not arrest them.

Later, the team learns about the bank robbery case in nearby cities. Young-Han has a hunch that the next target will be their city. Hiding from other units and the chief superintendent, Unit 1 finds out that the robbers will next target Goryeo Bank on the same day when the prominent leader arrives.

Amid the investigation, the team learns that Ho-Jeong’s father has thrown him out of the house because he chose to be a cop. Meanwhile, thanks to his intelligence and awareness, Young-Han’s team discovers the exact time and day when the robbers will attack the bank. Young-Han manages to convince Sang-Soon to disguise as a security guard at the back. Initially, he hesitates because the culprits killed the security guards in their previous heist.

Also, Young-Han seeks the help of the beggars he didn’t arrest to keep an eye on military jeeps. The robbers appear to be military-trained criminals and travel in a military vehicle with four doors. On the robbery day, Sang-Soon takes his position while Young-Han, Kyung-Hwan, and Ho-Jeong plan to grab the robbers before they enter the bank. But, the chief superintendent orders the Unit 2 team to throw the trio in prison for disobeying his orders. Hence, their mission gets delayed as they reach after the robbers have already created a ruckus in the bank.
