Lee Je-Hoon K-Drama & Movie List: Chief Detective 1958, Taxi Driver & More

Lee Je-Hoon is a 39-year-old South Korean actor who is all set to appear in the new K-drama, Chief Detective 1958. Starting his career through short films, the star has appeared in various popular K-dramas and movies, including Taxi Driver and The Front Line.

When Je-Hoon was pursuing a biotechnology major, he realized his love for acting and thus dropped out. He transferred to the Korea National University of Arts School of Drama. Currently, he is one of the most talented actors in the industry, and he also runs his agency, Company On.

His debut project was an indie short film, “They Live by Night.” Lee Je-Hoon completed his mandatory military service in 2014 and has been focused on his acting career ever since. Je-Hoon has won awards for films like The Front Line, Bleak Night, and K-drama Taxi Driver.

Chief Detective 1958

Chief Detective 1958 is a 2024 drama starring Lee Je-Hoon in the lead role. He plays Detective Park Young-Han, who forms a team of unlikely detectives who fight corruption. His team includes Lee Dong-Hwi as Kim Sang-Soon, Yoon Hyun-Soo as Seo Ho-Jung and Choi Woo-Sung as Jo Kyung-Hwan.

The series is a prequel to a classic K-drama, Chief Inspector. Young-Han was then played by veteran actor Choi Bool-Am, who will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming series. Chief Detective 1958 premieres on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 9.50 p.m. KST on MBC. It will also stream on Disney Plus.

Taxi Driver

Taxi Driver is a 2021 revenge drama revolving around Lee Je-Hoon’s character, Do Gi, seeking revenge. An honest Special Forces officer, Do Gi, feels betrayed by the justice system after his mother’s killer does not get the right amount of punishment.

He comes across a company called Rainbow Taxi, a secret organization that helps victims like Do Gi seek revenge. He joins the company and becomes the star driver. Soon, a prosecutor begins investigating Rainbow Taxi for going against the law to pursue justice. 

Je-Hoon has bagged several awards for this K-drama. Seeing the popularity, he returned for season 2 in 2023 and will also star in season 3.

Move To Heaven

Move To Heaven is a 2021 drama revolving around the concept of family and inheritance. Geu-Roo (Tang Jun-Sang), a 20-year-old autistic boy, works for his father’s company, Move To Heaven. After his dad dies, the guardianship transfers to his uncle Sang-Gu (Lee Je-Hoon). He is an ex-convict and a martial arts fighter who survives by participating in underground matches. 

When he learns about his brother’s will, Sang-Gu’s goal becomes the money. Although he initially moves in with Geu-Roo for money, his affection and care towards his nephew strengthen along the way.

According to IMDb, the synopsis reads, “Working as trauma cleaners, both Gu-ru and Sang-gu uncover various stories of the deceased while experiencing different emotions and sentiments toward life, death and family.”

The Front Line

The Front Line is a 2011 South Korean movie focusing on a war between North and South Korea. The battle is over the ownership of a small land area on a hill on the front line border. After the death of a commander, Kang Eun-Pyo (Shin Ha-Kyun) is dispatched to the front line to investigate the case internally. Things get worse after he learns the truth, leading to countless deaths.

The synopsis reads, “When a South Korean commander is killed by a friendly bullet during a cease fire, investigator Kang Eun-Pyo’s trail leads him to a remote hill region.” The cast also includes Go Soo as Kim Soo-Hyuk, David Lee as Nam Sung-Shik, Lee Je-Hoon as Shin Il-Yeong, Kim Ok-Bin as Cha Tae-Kyung, and many more.

I Can Speak

I Can Speak is a heartwarming 2017 movie starring Je-Hoon as Min-Jae and Na Moon-Hee as Ok-Boon. The story revolves around an elderly feisty lady, Ok-Boon, who has filed nearly 8000 complaints to the district’s office over the period of 20 years.

When civil officer Min-Jae gets transferred to her town, he tries to help the grumpy granny but fails. One day, Ok-Boon witnesses Min-Jae speaking English and requests him to teach her the language.

During their tutorial classes, the two form an unlikely bond and become closer, like a family. Later, Min-Jae discovers why Ok-Boon is determined to learn English.

Aside from the aforementioned dramas and movies, Lee Je-Hoon has also appeared in other projects, such as Where Stars Land, Tomorrow With You, My Paparroti, Architecture 101, Bleak Night, Anarchist from Colony, Signal, Secret Door, and many more.

Currently, the South Korean actor will star in Chief Detective 1958, airing on MBC and Disney Plus. The K-drama will air twice a week on Fridays and Saturdays at 9.50 p.m. KST.
