The Midnight Studio Episode 9 Recap & Spoilers: Joo Won Discovers Kwon Nara’s Truth on Their First Date

The Midnight Studio episode 9 aired on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, on ENA and Viki. Starring Joo Won as Seo Ki-Joo and Kwon Nara as Han Bom, the horror comedy K-drama currently revolves around the lead couple finding truths about each other.

In the previous episode, Ki-Joo and Han Bom became an official couple. His ghost employee, Nam-Gu, learned that his wife might have a lover. Amid all this, a dangerous evil spirit arrived, putting Ki-Joo’s life in danger.

The Midnight Studio episode 9 begins with Han Bom clicking Ki-Joo’s mandatory photo before he turns 35. They share several intimate moments, followed by a camping trip. During their getaway, Ki-Joo discovers Han Bom’s real identity. She is Jang Soo, his childhood friend who could see ghosts.

The Midnight Studio episode 9 spoilers: Joo Won reveals why Kwon Nara can activate ‘safe zone’

In The Midnight Studio episode 9, the first half is filled with Ki-Joo (Joo Won) and Han Bom’s (Kwon Nara) couple moments. They go on a romantic camping trip where she mentions that she once almost died.

Han Bom refers to the accident in which her parents died, and she went into a coma. The next morning, Ki-Joo discovers the similarities between her and his childhood friend, Jang Soo. The latter was a living soul who came to his photo studio with the camera when both were children.

Coming back to the present, Ki-Joo recalls Jang Soo when Han Bom comes running towards him to hug him. He reveals everything to her, leaving her surprised. In the past, she came to him when she was in a coma and was in the world between living and dead. Han Bom mentions that Jang Soo is her nickname and feels happy that she met him in the past.

Furthermore, he reveals why she can create a “safe zone.” It seems Han Bom’s first encounter with him was as a living soul who could see ghosts. One day, a group of ghosts rushed towards the kid. In order to protect her, Ki-Joo drew a circle around them with salt. Therefore, in the present time, whenever they come closer, the circle/safe zone is activated.

Aside from spending time with his new girlfriend, Ki-Joo also saves Nam-Gu from turning into an evil spirit. Nam-Gu recently finds out about his wife’s lover and begins to lose his temper with the intention of seeking revenge. Ki-Joo stops him and warns him that it can turn him into an evil ghost. Meanwhile, Ki-Joo’s ghost assistant, Go, learns that Han Bom’s roommate is the girl he was about to go on a date with before his death.

The Midnight Studio episode 9 ending: Kwon Nara learns about Joo Won’s death curse

Towards The Midnight Studio episode 9 ending, Ki-Joo (Joo Won) realizes that his end is near. For context, he lives with a family curse in which the male members die at the age of 35. Before the death comes, the ghost photographer of the family begins to experience strange signals.

In the latest episode, Ki-Joo learns that an evil spirit has attacked his photo studio. While the police are suspicious of Ki-Joo, the latter has to find a way to tackle the evil ghost.

Meanwhile, Han Bom hangs Ki-Joo’s profile photo on the wall of the studio near his family members. Assistant Go asks her to take it down and reveals that it is a funeral photo. Han Bom then learns the truth about Ki-Joo’s curse. The Midnight Studio episode 9 ends with Han Bom confronting Ki-Joo about the same. 

The K-drama airs twice a week on Monday and Tuesday on ENA and Viki.
