Lovely Runner is a forthcoming K-drama starring Byeon Woo-Seok and Kim Hye-Yoon in lead roles. It is a time-slip fantasy romance series about a K-pop idol and his passionate admirer.
The story follows Ryu Seon-Jae, a popular K-pop idol, who portrays his perfect life to his fans but hides his exhaustion and loneliness. Im Sol is an ardent fan of Seon-Jae who holds a special place in her heart. However, her world turns upside down when she receives the news of Seon-Jae’s sudden demise.
Mourning his death, Im Sol encounters a miraculous event. Suddenly, she finds herself propelled back 15 years in time, where she encounters a 19-year-old Seon-Jae. Determined to alter his destiny, she resolves to grant him a happy ending.

Woo-Seok plays Ryu Seon-Jae, a former swimmer turned top star. His life appears to be dream-like, with a huge fandom and a successful career. However, the reality is different. Although he has many admirers, Ryu Seon-Jae feels lonely and exhausted due to the demands of the entertainment world. One day, the news of his death leaves his fans devastated.
Woo-Seok is known for portraying characters with sad endings. In fact, the upcoming K-drama will begin with his character’s demise. Later, the time-slip storyline will bring Ryu Seon-Jae back into his 19-year-old self, who has yet to step into the K-pop industry.
His co-star Kim Hye-Yoon plays the role of Im Sol. She is a big fan of K-pop idol Seon-Jae and fantasizes about life with him. Following his death, she magically slips into the past and meets his youthful self. Hence, Im Sol takes this opportunity to change her idol’s tragic ending.

Lovely Runner release date, time & synopsis
The romance fantasy drama will have 16 episodes, each spanning over an hour. The series is expected to conclude on May 28, 2024. According to Viki’s synopsis, Lovely Runner revolves around Im Sol mourning the death of her favorite K-pop idol, Seon-Jae. In a magical turn of events, she is transported back to 2008 and meets Seon-Jae, a regular 19-year-old student.
The synopsis further reads, “Delighted that she has a chance to help him avert his unhappy future fate, Sol makes it her mission to change the future… and maybe find love along the way. Will her efforts to divert the course of the past prove successful – or could they have unexpected consequences?”
Lovely Runner is the K-drama adaptation of Kim Bbang’s web novel The Best of Tomorrow. The series will premiere on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 8:50 p.m. KST on tvN. It will air twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays. Additionally, viewers can catch the show on TVing and Viki.
