Queen of Tears Episode 2: Kim Soo-Hyun navigates Kim Ji-Won’s diagnosis

The latest Queen of Tears episode 2 began with Hong Hae-In revealing her medical diagnosis to Baek Hyun-Woo. Apparently, she only had three months to live after a rare tumor diagnosis, which caused her memory loss and headaches. On hearing her condition, a relieved Hyun-Woo realized he only had to bear a traumatic marriage for three months. He pretended to be good to her, promising her a happy married life until she breathed her last.

While heading to work the following day, Hae-In ordered Hyun-Woo to keep the news to himself. If her family got to know about it, they would throw her out and keep her assets. Meanwhile, her brother, Hong Soo-Cheol, received a scolding from his grandfather, Hong Man-Dae, over tax billing issues.

Hyun-Woo then went to meet his friend and fellow lawyer, Kim Yang-Gi. The latter advised Hyun-Woo to be kind to Hae-In if he wanted her assets after her death. Hyun-Woo followed his friend’s advice and began to care for his wife.

Later, at the family dinner, Hae-In’s mother, Kim Seon-Hwa, revealed that she was filing a lawsuit against Hae-In for building her department store on her land. When this infuriated Hae-In, Hyun-Woo took charge, taking her back to the room.

Hae-In’s parents went for a walk when her father, Hong Beom-Jun, asked his wife to drop the lawsuit against Hae-In. However, she talked about losing one of their children in the past when Hae-In overheard the conversation.

Hae-In then went to Hyun-Woo’s room to find out that he’d been researching medical miracles. Although Hyun-Woo’s intentions were materialistic, Hae-In misunderstood them to be his love for her. She promised to fight against her diagnosis and live long. Meanwhile, Soo-Cheol and Da-Hye discussed collaborating with a fund investor, David Yoon, to make their finances smooth.

David Yoon was the reason a well-known brand, Hercyna, could launch its first Asian flagship store in Seoul. Moreover, Hae-In wanted to get the brand into her department store. She went to the event when a fellow competitor tried to make her nervous. Hae-In asked Hyun-Woo to come, but he was in the middle of a trial. The competitor further insulted Hae-In, reminding her she should’ve married Yoon Eun-Sung (Park Sung-Hoon).

Apparently, Eun-Sung went by the name David Yoon and was Mr. Hermann’s right hand. After Hae-In met him, he recalled their past relationship and their bitter breakup. Meanwhile, Hae-In asked for his help to establish the brand in her store. While meeting Mr. Hermann, Hae-In realized she was alone, unlike others who had their spouses with them. However, Hyun-Woo arrived just in time to save her from the embarrassment.

Hyun-Woo met with Eun-Sung, who revealed having a past relationship with Hae-In. However, looking at an unfazed Hyun-Woo, he realized that the couple were having marital problems. Hyun-Woo, on the other hand, grew jealous of Hae-In and Eun-Sung’s relationship. The following day, Hae-In’s family discussed inviting Eun-Sung for a family hunting trip. Her mother expressed dropping the lawsuit if Hae-In would fulfill their wish.

Later, Eun-Sung accompanied the conglomerate family on their yearly hunt. Meanwhile, Secretary Grace set up a trap at Hae-In’s course, risking the latter of a wild boar attack. Meanwhile, Eun-Sung and Hyun-Woo got into an argument, indicating a rivalry.

At the end of the episode, Hae-In is almost attacked by the animal. As it rushed to attack her, she recalled her memories. Hyun-Woo arrived just in time to shoot the animal, saving Hae-In’s life.
