Popular K-drama actor Song Kang is all set to embark on his military enlistment. On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Namoo Actors, the agency representing him, issued a statement confirming his military enlistment date. The popular South Korean actor will enlist on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Earlier this year, the actor announced that he was heading for his military enlistment after filming Sweet Home Season 2.
Song Kang worked on two majorly successful projects before announcing his military enlistment. He worked in the Netflix series Sweet Home Season 2 and the SBS K-drama My Demon with his co-star Kim Yoo-Jung. Although the actor’s military enlistment date has left his fans heartbroken, they eagerly await his return in late 2025 or early 2026. For those unfamiliar, all able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve in the military for 18 to 22 months.

Song Kang to enlist in the military, agency Namoo Actors confirms date
Kang’s agency, Namoo Actors, issued a statement confirming the actor’s military enlistment date as Tuesday, April 2, 2024. They said (as translated by Soompi):
“Hello, this is Namoo Actors. We express deep gratitude to the fans who always show love for actor Song Kang, and this is a notice regarding Song Kang’s enlistment. Song Kang will be enlisting as an active duty soldier of the [Republic of Korea] Army on Tuesday, April 2.”
The agency continued, “There will be no official events held when he enters the recruit training center, and he will be enlisting privately to prevent safety accidents due to congestion on site, so we ask for your understanding. We ask for the warm love and support of many people in order for Song Kang to return in good health with greater maturity after diligently completing his mandatory service. Thank you.”
Song Kang played pivotal roles in both My Demon and Sweet Home Season 2. In the former, he plays the demon Jung Gu-Won, who falls in love with chaebol heiress Do Do-Hee (Kim Yoo-Jung). And in Sweet Home Season 2, the actor plays Cha Hyun-Su, a monster-human hybrid who tries to save the Green Home residents from the monster apocalypse. Viewers can watch both the series on Netflix.
