Captivating the King Episode 12 Recap: Did Jo Jung-Suk Lie About Crown Prince’s Petition?

The latest episode of Captivating the King, starring Jo Jung-Suk and Shin Se-Kyung, deals with King Lee In approving a petition related to the Grand Prince. Episode 12 features Queen Oh’s last wish, in which she wants to see the Grand Prince taking the position of the Crown Prince.

It begins with King Lee In anxious about the thunder and lightning that burns the peach tree planted by his late brother. Jung-Suk’s character believes that heaven has punished him for stealing the throne from his brother’s toddler son.

Meanwhile, Queen Oh’s heart deteriorates and hence she asks her father to send a petition to the king. The latter discusses with many people and agrees to adopt the Grand Prince, making him next in line to the throne. But his encounter with Principal Director Park Jong-Hwan in the episode later shows that he may have lied about his intention towards the Grand Prince.

Captivating the King episode 12 spoilers: Jo Jung-Suk claims to trick people by adopting his brother’s son 

In Captivating the King episode 12, Queen Oh goes with Shin Se-Kyung’s Mong-Woo/Hee-Soo’s suggestion to protect the Grand Prince. She suggests to make him the Crown Prince and secure his place in the royal family. After listening to the petition, Lee In figures out that it must be Hee-Soo’s idea.

When the two meet, he looks concerned and says, “Please stop trying to sway me. You will end up in danger.” The episode further shows Lee In’s mother asking him to not accept the petition but he goes against her.

On the other hand, Principal Director Park Jong-Hwan plans to re-marry the King and get rid of the Grand Prince. But the petition ruins his plans and he gets extremely furious. After King Lee In visits his mother, he encounters Jong-Hwan. The latter expresses his disappointment towards Lee In’s decision to adopt the Grand Prince. He seems frustrated and ends up raising his voice at the king.

Lee In shows him his place and claims that he will trick people by adopting his brother’s son. He says, “The King shall not be insulted. Anyone who opposes me shall face death, and that includes my kin who shares my blood.” His words leave Hee-Soo in shock as she listens to the conversation while hiding behind a wall. He further smirks and states, “I finally understand why my brother hated me so much and wanted me dead. The power of the King is not to be shared with anyone else.”

His answer puts Jong-Hwan at ease. Whether King Lee In deliberately acts as a villain to protect the Grand Prince or it is his real personality, time will tell.

Captivating the King episode 12 ending: Shin Se-Kyung agrees to the plan to kill Jo Jung-Suk

After learning King Lee In’s intention toward the Grand Prince, Shin Se-Kyung’s Hee-Soo is back to her revenge plan. 

Captivating the King episode 12 shows Jo Jung-Suk’s Lee In adopting the Grand Prince. The queen witnesses the event and takes her last breath soon after. Meanwhile, Chu Dal-Ha and Hee-Soo try to come up with a plan to save the Crown Prince. He suggests that the child’s life will be in danger until the King is alive. He asks her permission to kill Lee In, and she says yes.

Chu Dal-Ha asks Hee-Soo to call King Lee In to her chamber where he will hide in the dark and attack the King. The Captivating the King episode 12 ends with Lee In arriving at Hee-Soo’s place. As he begins to go towards the chamber, she stops him with tears in her eyes.

Suspecting the situation, Lee In asks, “You are trembling. What is wrong?” She says, “You cannot go inside.” He further asks, “Do you have another lover waiting inside? Or is there an assassin hiding to kill me?” Going by her expressions, he figures out the answer.

Captivating the King airs on Netflix and tvN twice a week.
