The two eventually reunite after two decades, but a shocking connection shakes their lives.

Episode 1 of The Two Sisters documented Lee Hye-Won and Lee Hye-Ji’s lives from when they were young to 20 years later. The latter now lives under a different name, Bae Do-Eun, and has an affair with YJ Group’s Chairman, Yoon Yi-Cheol. Meanwhile, Hye-Won is about to marry Yi-Cheol’s son, Yoon Ji-Chang.

The sisters, who are now connected in this unfortunate way, are about to potentially reunite by the end of the episode. Do-Eun heard someone call her by her previous name, which sounded like Hye-Won. Viewers will have to wait and find out if the sisters reunite and their tragic journey unfolds.

The Two Sisters episode 1: Lee So-Yeon & Ha Yeon-Joo’s story gets a gripping start

The latest episode of The Two Sisters began with a pregnant Lee Hye-Won driving while feeling tensed. She rang a call to her sister, Lee Hye-Ji, who now lives as Bae Do-Eun. However, Do-Eun charged at her with her own car in an attempt to kill her. The episode then shifted to when they were young. The two sisters were inseparable back then. They almost did everything together, including wearing the same clothes and sharing their toys.

However, their lives took an unpredictable turn due to their parents’ divorce. Unlike their mother, their father was always close to them. Eventually, Hye-Won went to live with her mother and Hye-Ji with her father. During one of their cordial meetups at an amusement park, Hye-Won wished to live with her father. She whispered something to Hye-Ji, who then left with her mother.

The scene shifted to two years before the accident. Hye-Ji, who now lives as Bae Do-Eun, filmed YJ Group’s Chairman, Yoo Yi-Cheol, talking about their soon-to-be-born child, Bo-Ram. She had an affair with him. At night, when Yi-Cheol slept, she secretly uploaded the video on social media, making the affair public. This led to him asking his wife, Oh Soo-Hyang, for a divorce. This news came a few days before their son, Yoon Ji-Chang, was about to get married.

In a twist of fate, Ji-Chang’s bride was none other than Lee Hye-Won. While trying on her wedding dress, she discovered the news. She also met Ji-Chang, who offered to drop her home. Meanwhile, Ji-Chang confronted his father, Yi-Cheol, about the affair. He further expressed that both he and Hye-Won side with his mother in the case.

Meanwhile, Hye-Won spent time with her mother-in-law at their foundation, assuring her everything would be fine. They further discussed their recent projects for handicaps and an upcoming auction that Hye-Won would personally oversee. Ji-Chang arrived on time to take Hye-Won out on a date.

On the other hand, Do-Eun visited a psychiatrist and talked about losing her baby, Bo-Ram. She acted as though she was pregnant and had now lost her child. Do-Eun even convinced Ji-Chang of the same. She wanted to make money by opening a charitable organization under her supposedly dead child’s name. Do-Eun even saw pictures of Hye-Won and Ji-Chang’s pre-wedding shoot and hoped to outdo them soon. But YJ Group matriarch Kim Young-Ae confessed to never accepting her into the family.

Meanwhile, Ji-Chang took Hye-Won out to watch a movie where he played memories of her and her sister Hye-Ji (Do-Eun). He even retrieved the necklaces the sisters got from their father as children. The episode ended with someone calling out to Do-Eun with her previous name.

Tune in to The Two Sisters every evening at 7:50 p.m. on KBS2 and on Viki (selected regions).
