The trailer for the upcoming JTBC drama Doctor Slump begins with showcasing Yeo Jeong-Woo and Nam Ha-Neul’s high-school life. The former places first in mock exams but soon discovers that a new kid is joining the school, who also aced the exams. Thus begins their rivalry when Ha-Neul enters his life as the school’s new student. Reflecting on their rivalry, they say, “Heaven can’t brook two suns. Nor can a school have two top students.”

The trailer proceeds to showcase scenes of their interesting but intense rivalry. It gradually showcases events in the duo’s lives that led to their reunion 14 years later. Jeong-Woo does very well professionally as a plastic surgeon. Just as he begins to gain public recognition, a plastic surgery procedure goes wrong, leading to the patient’s death.

Jeong-Woo’s life takes a complete shift after he gets blamed for the accident. However, he understands that there’s more to the issue. But drowning in debt, he becomes broke. Meanwhile, Ha-Neul knows nothing beyond studies. She endures pressures from her parents and her professional seniors only to get diagnosed with severe depression. Ultimately, she quits her job and falls into burnout.

The two eventually end up in the same apartment, reuniting during the worst phases of their lives. Back in high school, people around them presumed they loved each other. They try explaining that they were rivals then. They go on to spend quality time together, comforting each other to deal with their issues. Jeong-Woo even offers Ha-Neul to be his friend as he disparately needs someone to believe in him.

From being friends, they slowly start to develop feelings for each other. They begin to navigate their feelings while dealing with their own personal struggles. The two begin a journey of reassurance, comfort, and love together.
