Netflix’s The Bequeathed K-Drama Trailer Teases Ominous Events Over a Burial Ground

The upcoming Korean horror miniseries The Bequeathed is right around the corner. The series will premiere on Friday, January 19, 2024, on Netflix. Written by Train to Busan’s director Yeon Sang-Ho, the K-drama follows the story of a woman and her complicated family matters over a burial ground. However, there’s more to the story, as murders start taking place after her half-brother arrives to ask for his share of the family property.

The newly released trailer focuses on Yoon Seo-Ha (Kim Hyun-Joo) as she receives the news of her uncle’s death and discovers that he has given her the burial ground. But her half-brother, Kim Young-Ho (Ryu Kyung-Soo), wreaks havoc when he returns asking for his share. The drama has been created and written by Yeon Sang-Ho, whose previous works include Train to Busan, Hellbound, and Peninsula. Min Hong-Nam serves as the director of the series.

The Bequeathed trailer: Kim Hyun-Joo, Ryu Kyung-Soo battle over a burial ground

The trailer begins with Yoon Seo-Ha receiving the news of her uncle, Mr. Yoon Myeong-Gil’s death. However, she doesn’t remember having an uncle, so she is surprised at the news of his death. The following scene shows an old man’s murder and the police’s subsequent arrival to investigate. Meanwhile, Seo-Ha discovers that her uncle has left her a family burial ground. Considering that she’s his only remaining relative, she becomes the sole inheritor of the property. However, chaos and complications ensue when another member of the family suspiciously arrives.

As she mourns her uncle’s death, Kim Young-Ho, the half-brother she never knew existed, arrives. He claims to have an equal right to the burial ground. But something about him seems suspicious. Many people advise Seo-Ha to get rid of the property as there is no use in keeping it. But soon, they discover multiple murders in and around the burial ground. Seo-Ha thinks it’s her half-brother’s doing to inherit the property.

Meanwhile, Young-Ho holds dark secrets within himself. Seo-Ha eventually starts uncovering ominous events around her, including bloodshed, dragon paintings on the wall in blood, and so much more. Young-Ho recalls warning her to stop her actions. While it is unclear what exactly happened with him and his relationship with Seo-Ha, the two engage in a fierce battle.

What follows in the trailer is the police’s involvement in catching the murderer, while Seo-Ha finds herself involved with Young-Ho. He asks her to give him the burial ground as it is the only way she can live. Murders, bloodshed, mystery, and a fierce chase cover the rest of the trailer, raising anticipation about the whole story.

The cast further includes Park Hee-Soon, who plays the police detective Choi Seong-Joon. He investigates the connections between the family’s burial ground and the mysterious murders. The detective also has a junior Sang-Min (Park Byung-Eun) by his side to help him solve the mystery. Viewers will have to wait and see what dark truths and buried secrets await them.

Don’t forget to tune in to The Bequeathed on Friday, January 19, 2024, on Netflix.
