My Demon episode 1: Song Kang’s demonic powers are transferred to Kim Yoo-Jung

My Demon Episode 1 begins with Do-Hee fleeing a potential danger when she sees Gu-Won’s shadows. She wonders whether everyone around her is an enemy. The following few scenes introduce viewers to the demon, Jung Gu-Won, and his profession. He bases his job on the philosophy that humans become evil due to desires.

He makes deals with humans and makes them sign it with their blood. Gu-Won lures them with greed, which they eventually fall into. He makes a deal with a man and promises he won’t go hungry for the next ten years. However, the man will have to sign the agreement that he is ready to die and face hell after a decade of goodwill. The man agrees.

Meanwhile, Do-Hee is the adoptive child of Madam Ju, the CEO of Mirae Group. As she battles an internal power struggle, she also has a blind date lined up. Initially, she resists and makes excuses but agrees after Madam Ju threatens her. Do-Hee reaches the restaurant and meets Gu-Won, her blind date, which leaves her completely mesmerized.

The duo could have had a better start, but they began to bicker. However, it becomes clear that they are attracted to each other. Moments later, Do-Hee heads to the washroom to calm herself down and then leaves the hotel with blood stains on her dress.

In the following few scenes, viewers are introduced to Do-Hee’s adoptive family. She was 11 years old when Madam Ju took her in. The family comprises Noh Suk-Min (Madam Ju’s eldest son), Noh Su-Ahn (the second child), and Ju Seok-Hoon (the nephew). Do-Hee reveals that her family members aren’t too fond of her and hide their wickedness behind their smiles.

While on her way to work, she finds out Madam Ju is in the hospital and rushes, only to discover she was faking her illness to celebrate Do-Hee’s birthday. The two discuss her date with Gu-Won and even give him a call. However, his lack of concern disturbs Madam Ju, who calls it a “match made in hell.”

In the episode, Gu-Won reveals that he owns a company focused on traditional arts. The show introduces his human companions, a butler, who remembers his past life, and an artist, Jin Ga-Young, the demon’s fangirl. Meanwhile, Do-Hee receives a call from a man promising to provide her with priceless information. However, someone kills him soon after their conversation.

As her birthday ends, Do-Hee visits the beach and recalls time spent with her birth parents. She calls a cab driver to drop her to where her car is. However, she soon finds out that the driver wants to kill her. He attempts to do so by making her unconscious. However, she manages to escape the cab driver and runs for her life.

To her surprise, Gu-won appears out of nowhere. He asks her to make a deal, but Do-Hee requests him to deal with the killer first. While he does that, she tries to get in her car and drive off. But Gu-Won throws the man into her car, killing him. When he helps Do-Hee get up, both fall into the water, but she tries to escape. Meanwhile, the cross tattoo on his wrist slowly transfers onto her, indicating a shift in demonic powers.

The following morning, they are on the shore, alive. Gu-Won realizes he no longer has the tattoo and has lost his powers. He is even more shocked to discover that Do-Hee has inherited those demonic powers.

My Demon Episode 2 airs on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 10 p.m. KST on SBS. The drama will be available to stream on Netflix.
