The Matchmakers actor Rowoon explains SF9 exit

In a recent press conference, Rowoon appeared to promote his latest project, The Matchmakers. At the event, he answered questions related to his exit from the boy band SF9. He said, “I left the group because I wanted to become more serious about acting, and I wanted to get better at it.” The 27-year-old star further explained that it was “not an easy decision” for him.

He continued, “I understand that some people might be disappointed by my decision. But I think such disappointments are part of the weight of my decision that I would have to face. If I could make people understand my choice through my acting, it would be a big step forward for me.”

When Rowoon was asked about his relationship with his band members post-departure, he mentioned that they support each other. He added that SF9 member Hwiyoung is also part of The Matchmakers.

He said, “I left SF9 to focus more on my acting career because I wanted to better. Hwiyoung is starring on The Matchmakers as well and we’re still the same. We root for one another! I know my SF9 brothers are still rooting for me and so am I! I know some of you are sad and I believe I got to work harder for you and for everyone.”

Meanwhile, viewers can watch and stream The Matchmakers K-drama premiere on Viki. It airs new episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:45 p.m. KST on KBS.
