Over the past couple of years, Korean dramas have evolved with developing trends. Creators have explored a variety of genres, including romance, thriller, action, and comedy, among many others. Destined With You

The series follows the story of lawyer Jang Shin-Yu (Rowoon) and civil servant Lee Hong-Jo (Jo Bo-Ah). While the former struggled with a centuries-old curse, Bo-Ah holds the key to undo his curse. They eventually fall in love with each other.

Strong Woman Bong-Soon

Strong Woman Bong-Soon, starring Park Hyung-Sik and Park Bo-Young, released on February 24, 2017, and quickly became a fan favorite. The series follows the story of Do Bong-Soon (Park Bo-Young) and her ability to fight crimes. She is employed as a bodyguard to CEO Ahn Min-Hyuk (Park Hyung-Sik), and eventually falls in love with him.

Itaewon Class

Itaewon class, featuring Park Seo-Joon and Kim Da-Mi, released on January 31, 2020, and instantly tugged at viewers’ heartstrings. The series follows the story of ex-con Park Sae Ro-Yi (Park Seo-Joon) and his friends working hard to make their street bar dream a reality. They face competitions and conflicts, but that doesn’t deter them from proving themselves.

Vincenzo

Vincenzo, starring Song Joong-Ki and Jeon Yeo-Been, released on February 20, 2021. The drama documented the journey of Korean-Italian mafia Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong-Ki), and his own brand of justice. He comes into touch with lawyer Hong Cha-Young (Jeon Yeo-Been) to find and protect his hidden gold. Vincenzo Cassano became a brand name in the K-drama circle, following the success of the drama.

All of Us Are Dead

All of Us Are Dead is based on the webtoon Now at Our School by Joo Dong-Geun. The zombie horror series follows the lives of high school students caught in the middle of a dangerous virus outbreak. The cast includes Park Ji-Hu, Yoon Chan-Young, Cho Yi-Hyun, Yoo In-Soo, and more. The drama not only provides horror but also sheds light on a number of social issues, due to which it became extremely popular.

Twenty-Five Twenty-One

Twenty-Five Twenty-One, starring Nam Joo-Hyuk and Kim Tae-Ri, released on February 12, 2022, and resonated with a large audience. The drama is set in the 1990s, documenting the story of fencing prodigy Na Hee-Do (Kim Tae-Ri) and reporter Baek Yi-Jin (Nam Joo-Hyuk). The series showcases love and breakup in the middle of real-life events.

Bloodhounds

Bloodhounds, featuring Woo Do-Hwan, Lee Sang-Yi and Park Sung-Woong, released on June 9, 2023. The action crime drama follows the story of two young boxers Kim Gun-Woo (Woo Do-Hwan) and Hong Woo-Jin (Lee Sang-Yi) delving deep into the criminal underworld to pay off their debts and escaping from the dangerous loan shark. The cast as well as the storyline makes it for a compelling watch.
