Aamir Khan, known for his socially relevant movies, is gearing up to leave an impact once again with his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. Following the monumental success of the 2007 release Taare Zameen Par, which brought attention to dyslexia, Khan now reportedly turns his lens towards another vital cause — Down Syndrome.
Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par focuses on Down Syndrome
In Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan portrayed the role of a compassionate teacher guarding a child struggling with dyslexia. Fast forward to Sitaare Zameen Par, and Khan is gearing up to tackle Down Syndrome, moreover, with the same level of sensitivity and thoughtfulness.
According to an insider quoted in a Hindustan Times report, “Just like TZP, Aamir Khan wanted to bring focus on another condition that gets stigmatized in our society through Sitaare Zameen Par.”
The source continued, “That’s when he found a heartfelt story that sheds light on Down Syndrome and what people dealing with that go through. He wants to handle the subject very sensitively and create an impact that makes people suffering from the syndrome be treated as equals.”
Additionally, last year, Aamir Khan provided insights into the thematic similarities and differences between Taare Zameen Par and Sitaare Zameen Par. While the former tugged at heartstrings and evoked emotions, the latter aims to take a different route. The upcoming film promises laughter and entertainment. Khan remarked, “The theme is the same. That’s why we kept this name very thoughtfully.”
In addition, Aamir Khan revealed Sitaare Zameen Par’s release date window as well. He confirmed the film will have a Christmas release. Khan stated, “My next film as a lead actor, which has just begun filming, is Sitaare Zameen Par. We are trying to release it by the end of this year, on the occasion of Christmas. It is an entertaining film, I like the story. The shooting of the film has begun.”
