Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi‘s highly anticipated film, Merry Christmas, has a new release date. Sriram Raghavan directed Merry Christmas was slated for release on December 8, 2023. However, the makers of the film recently announced a new date, while stating the reason behind the postponement.
Apart from announcing a new date, the makers also shared new posters for the film. They wrote “The wait is almost over! #MerryChristmas is making your winter merrier on January 12, 2024.” One of the posters shows Vijay in a thinking state with three portraits of Katrina placed on the wall behind him. The other poster features Katrina sitting in a restaurant while Vijay keeps a watch on her from another table.

Merry Christmas new release date revealed
Merry Christmas will now release on January 12, 2024. This thriller is co-written by Sriram Raghavan with Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, and Anukriti Pandey. Ramesh Turani, Jaya Turani, Sanjay Routray, and Gewal Garg produced it under Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures.
Besides Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi as leads, the film stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Gayathrie, Pratima Kazmi, Tinnu Anand, and many others. As per rumors, Radhika Apte and Ashwini Kalsekar will make cameo appearances in the film. The producers shot Merry Christmas in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously.
In a joint statement shared by the makers, they expressed their love for the project and their unwavering commitment to deliver an exceptional cinematic experience. They said, “We have made this film with a lot of love and passion like every filmmaker does however with the back-to-back movie releases and packed last two months of 2023, we have taken the decision to extend the season of joy and bring our film to the theatres on 12th January 2024.”
The producers have postponed Merry Christmas several times since its announcement in December 2021. The film was expected to clash with Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha on December 8, but the producers have now pushed both films to a later date. This is due to the release of Ranbir Kapoor’s film Animal, which hits theatres on December 1, 2023.
