Amazon Prime Video India’s Best Hindi Shows: Farzi, Bambai Meri Jaan & More Series

While international dramas made big waves this year, some Hindi original drama series on Amazon Prime Video went beyond to make a spot for themselves.

Amazon Prime Video India has been slowly but steadily grabbing the attention of Indian audiences across the world. From nail-biting thrillers to sports dramas and relatable content, these shows have shed light on some of the best talents in the country.

Here’s a list of the best Indian original Hindi series on Amazon Prime Video India:

Farzi

A black comedy crime thriller series that was created, produced and directed by Raj & DK. The eight-episode series was co-written by Sita Menon and Suman Kumar alongside the creator. Farzi (Fakes) stars Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna and Bhuvan Arora.

The Amazon Prime Video series revolves around the life of Sunny, an artist who gets pushed into the murky world of counterfeit money after failing to keep his grandfather’s revolutionary printing press in business. He then teams up with his best friend while facing challenges from a gangster and a cop.

Bambai Meri Jaan

Bambai Meri Jaan (Bombay My Beloved) is a period crime thriller series produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment. Rensil D’Silva created the series with Shujaat Saudagar and was based on Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia.

It stars Kay Kay Menon, Avinash Tiwary, Kritika Kamra, Nivedita Bhattacharya and Amyra Dastur. The Amazon Prime Video series is a sneak into the post-independence Bombay and its streets riddled with crime. It shows an honest cop’s journey as he tries to protect his family.

Made In Heaven

A romantic drama series that premiered its first season back in 2019 and returned for the second this year. Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti created Made In Heaven. Produced by Excel Entertainment, the series follows the lives of Delhi-based wedding planners and best friends, Tara and Karan.

This Amazon Prime Video series delves into the lives of the rich and fabulous while also offering an insight into the regressive society of today. It stars Arjun Mathur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jim Sarbh, Shashank Arora, Kalki Koechlin and Shivani Raghuvanshi.

Jubilee

Set in the golden age of the Hindi film industry, Jubilee tells the story of several characters and the gambles they’re willing to take in pursuit of their dreams, passions, and ambitions. The show follows the lives of people, including a studio owner, a rising star, a struggling actor, a filmmaker, and a journalist, while exploring the themes of love, loss, ambition, and, betrayal.

Vikramaditya Motwane created and directed the Amazon Prime Video series, with Andolan Films, Phantom Studios, and Reliance Entertainment as producers. Jubilee stars a talented cast of Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aparshakti Khurana, Sidhant Gupta, Aditi Rao Hydari, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ram Kapoor.

Dahaad

Yet another collaboration between Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, Dahaad stars Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah. The series revolves around a sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati as she investigates a series of puzzling suicides of women in a small town in Rajasthan. As she delves deeper into the case, she begins to suspect that the suicides could actually be a series of killings. 

Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi directed the police procedural crime thriller. The Amazon Prime Video series was produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Farhan Akhtar, Kassim Jagmagia, Angad Dev Singh, and Sunitha Ram.

Hostel Daze

A comedy-drama miniseries created by Saurabh Khanna and written by Abhishek Yadav. Raghav Subbu directs Hostel Daze, which consists of four seasons in total, with the latest season premiering in September 2023. Arunabh Kumar produces the series.

The series stars Adarsh Gourav, Luv Vispute, Shubham Gaur, Nikhil Vijay and Ahsaas Channa in the lead roles. It follows the relatable college journey of four hostel friends: Jhantoo, Chirag, and Jaat, who are new students on campus and become roommates.
