New Spot: Skype Horror, Unfriended

The latest in a burgeoning subgenre meant to take advantage of the familiarity of our online behaviors and lifestyle, Unfriended is hitting theaters this month with massive buzz. Find the latest TV spot for the all-Skype terror, below.

There’s a lot to Unfriended that’s kind of stunning, in that the film feels truly authentic and seamless in its depiction of how we operate online—moving between windows and tabs, the things we type, the things we delete. The film is almost a miracle in the way it doesn’t feel immediately dated like many previous tech-based horror films.

Produced by Blumhouse and Timur Bekmambetov, Unfriended unfolds over a teenager’s computer screen as she and her friends are stalked by an unseen figure who seeks vengeance for a shaming video that led a vicious bully to kill herself a year earlier.

Unfriended is out from Universal on April 17th
