André Øvredal (pictured top), whose imaginative, rollicking fantasy-horror Troll Hunter hit fests and VOD hard in 2010 is heading into production on supernatural thriller The Autopsy of Jane Doe, with Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch set to star.
In the film, Cox and Hirsch star as father and son coroners mystified by a homicide victim. Their subsequent autopsy and investigation into her death makes for a terrifying experience. Variety reports Øvredals English-language debut will get underway this month in London. Autopsy of Jane Doe is scripted by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing. Their screenplay received much acclaim in 2013, landing on the annual Blood List, a rundown of the best unproduced genre scripts.
This is perhaps entirely unrelated, but the synopsis of Jane Doe has me wanting to recommend the endlessly fascinating true crime podcast, Criminal, the fourth episode of which interviews a mother and daughter who are both coroners about the family life that makes for.
