We’re going to be hearing about a lot of horror projects this week with the American Film Market arriving. Some will happen. Some won’t. One that is most certainly happening is XX, the all-female horror anthology in the works that Magnet Releasing will distribute.
According to participating director Jovanka Vuckovic, cameras start rolling next month. And, per her various social media channels (like Facebook), Vuckovic is going to be adapting a Jack Ketchum tale. “The Box,” to be exact. “I hope you guys like my take on Ketchum’s superb existential horror story,” she said.
Ketchum is best known for his vicious works like “The Girl Next Door” and “Off Season.”
His short story “The Box” was published in 1994; you can find it in the collection “Peaceable Kingdom.” The story focuses on a boy, his sisters and their mother and the mysterious box that enters into their lives.
XX will also feature directors Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body), Mary Harron (American Psycho) and Jennifer Lynch (Surveillance).
