Sinister Art: Andrew Barr’s Horror Icons Are Amusing Portraits of Evil

Canadian illustrator Andrew Barr has been – for a bit now – nurturing a blog called “Monstars” which throws the spotlight on various horror films. These capsule reviews are accompanied by character portraits by Barr that are pretty darn neat. I’ve pulled some of my favorites below – but you can get the full scope of his work via this link. What’s great about these is he doesn’t limit himself to simply the familiar faces of horror.

Barr will go so far as to whip up drawings of Stanley Coopersmith (Evilspeak) or the Phantom killer from The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Barr was recently selling prints of these character portraits at the FanExpo in Toronto. Need to get my hand on a few of these…
