Scott Derrickson's Deliver Us from Evil is one of my most anticipated films of the summer. I've loved the ads so far. I hear great things about the movie. This poster…leaves me a bit cold. It reminds me of the Devil's Due one-sheet simply because of the perspective and approach. And it sure is busy for a horror poster. There's a guy in a straight-jacket with carvings in his flesh. Then there's scribbling on the floor and you've also got this haggard woman (?) with a set of keys in her mouth.
What the fuck is happening here?!
[Update: It’s an international poster, per producer Jerry Bruckheimer.]
Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn, Sean Harris and Joel McHale star in the supernatural thriller, which follows New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Bana), who is struggling with his own personal issues. As he begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes, he joins forces with an unconventional priest (Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. The film is based upon the book, which details Sarchie's bone-chilling real-life cases.
Deliver Us From Evil hits theaters on July 2nd.
