Paul Hyett to Direct Rabid Dog Thriller The Pool

FX artist Paul Hyett (The DescentThe Woman in Black) is getting back in the director’s chair for The Pool. While Hyett is best known for his work in special effects, lately he has been nurturing a directing career. He made his debut with The Seasoning House and is reportedly at work on a film called Howl (about passengers on a train who contend with a beast).

The Salt Company‘s website reveals Hyett has been attached to The Pool, a film about a pool party in a luxury cliff top house that becomes a desperate fight for survival when the beloved family dog turns rabid.

Johannes Roberts, Ernest Riera, Hyett, Conal Palmer and Steven Lally all worked on the script.

Here’s how Salt hypes the film:

hyett draws on classic horrors like jaws and paranormal activity, saying “what elevates a horror into a classic is making the audience terrified of the everyday”. using proprietary, never before seen fx, the pool will be out-and-out action coupled with edge of your seat tension.

Screen Daily says shooting begins this fall.
