15 of Today’s Stars Who Started in Horror

Zach Galifianakis in Below

Zak Galifianakis’ rise to fame didn’t happen overnight; it included bit parts, years of standup comedy, and a short-lived talk show on VH1.

Along the way, Galifianakis played submarine crew member “Weird” Wally in the 2002 David Twohy (Riddick) film Below.  When things start going wrong, he’s the one to introduce the word “malediction” to the crew’s vernacular.

This supernatural film didn’t garner a great deal of mainstream attention upon the time of its release, but is certainly worth a look. The subterranean confinement angle brings a whole different layer of tension to the film.

Demi Moore in Parasite

Before she starred in such Oscar contenders as Striptease and The Juror, the former Mrs. Bruce Willis appeared in an utterly ridiculous, campy, low budget, suck fest called Parasite.

The film centers on a parasitic worm that takes up residence in the stomach of its human host. It’s an obvious attempt to capitalize on the success of superior films like Alien. Also worthy of mention, amidst her rise to prominence, Ms. Moore did a guest spot on the popular Tales from the Crypt television program.
