15 of Today’s Stars Who Started in Horror

Charlize Theron in Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest

Now a highly respected Oscar-winning actress, Charlize Theron once appeared in the low-budget killer kid film Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest.

Theron had nearly no screen time in the film. In fact, if you aren’t looking for her, you will miss her appearance all together. She played the uncredited role of “Young Woman” in this Children of the Corn installment where members of the corn cult are let loose on the streets of Chicago to wreak terror on the city’s citizens.

Bradley Cooper in My Little Eye

This little known film centers on a Big Brother reality show-style competition gone terribly wrong. This was an early appearance for Bradley Cooper (seven years before he became a household name with the release of The Hangover). Cooper plays a stranger named Travis that arrives on the houseguest’s doorstep one day. As a side note, the film isn’t half bad. It isn’t a classic, but it is worth 90 minutes of your time should you have the occasion to seek it out.

Rooney Mara in Urban Legends: Bloody Mary

Rooney Mara has garnered worldwide acclaim for her performance in the American version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but her first acting role was a “blink-and-you’ll-miss-her” appearance as “Classroom Girl #2” in this direct-to-DVD entry in the Urban Legend slasher franchise.

Mara was credited as Patricia Mara, rather than her current moniker, Rooney. Beyond that, her first breakout, starring role was in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 – which she now seems to have nothing nice to say about.
