Stone Cold Fox Cast: Kiefer Sutherland, Kiernan Shipka & Krysten Ritter to Lead Revenge Thriller

According to Deadline, Kiefer Sutherland (Designated Survivor), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) have been tapped for major roles in the upcoming action thriller Stone Cold Fox.

Shipka will be playing the titular character while Sutherland and Ritter are portraying the film’s main antagonists. Besides the leading trio, Jamie Chung (Lovecraft Country), Karen Fukuhara (The Boys), and Lorenza Izzo (Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood) have also been cast in the project, which being described as an ’80s revenge story. Production is expected to begin sometime this summer.

“The film follows a defiant Fox (Shipka), who breaks out of an abusive commune in search of her family… but when the queenpin (Ritter) kidnaps her little sister and sends a crooked cop (Sutherland) after her, Fox has no choice but to infiltrate the very place she escaped,” reads the synopsis.

Who’s involved in the Stone Cold Fox?

Stone Cold Fox will serve as the feature directorial debut of Sophie Tabet, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Julia Roth. The film will be produced by Tabet, Roth, Stephen Braun, Eric B. Fleischman, Chris Abernathy, and Jonathan Craven, with Anyone But You’s Joe Roth set as an executive producer. At the moment, the film currently has no release date attached to it yet.

“Stone Cold Fox is a love letter to the American action films of the 80’s, but one that gives women, immigrants and queer characters seats at the table,” Tabet said in a statement. “I’m beyond excited to make this ass-kicking, high-octane film about the complexities of non-belonging, and making your own family as a means of survival.”

This marks Shipka’s latest 80s-set movie, following her leading performance in last year’s slasher comedy Totally Killer, where she played a modern-day teenager who time travels to 1987 to save her mom from a serial killer. Shipka currently has two high-profile movies set to premiere later this year, including Twisters with Glen Powell, and Red One with Dwayne Johnson.
