Michael Parks, Justin Long to Star in Kevin Smith’s ‘Monster’ Movie Tusk

Tusk garnered headlines over the summer when it was revealed the film concerned a man who was once lost at sea with a walrus.  When the man returns home, he puts out an ad for a roommate.  The only thing this man asks is that his roommate wear a walrus costume (he’s obviously missed his walrus pal) and act only like the animal.  Somewhere along the way, the film takes a darker turn.

Smith, of course, worked with Parks in Red State and Long appeared in Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

In this interview, Smith revealed Robert Kurtzman is designing and providing the walrus suit needed for the project.

“As weird as it is in my head when I talk about it, they finally sent me the costume designs by Robert Kurtzman, and I was like, “Holy sh-t, it’s a monster movie, I had no idea.” I thought I was making a kind of sister thriller to Red State. As soon as I saw the designs, I go, “Of course this is a monster movie and he’s Dr. Frankenstein.”

Smith describes the movie as “fucked up.”

Indeed.
