Evil Dead’s Fede Alvarez Hops Aboard Dante’s Inferno Adaptation

Remember that 2010 video game Dante’s Inferno?  Well, there’s still a push to get this thing turned into a feature film.

Universal and Strike Entertainment picked up the rights back in 2008 and have held onto it ever since.  The video game released followed along with an animated film that hit direct-to-DVD.

I didn’t know there was still that much excitement left in a feature film, but apparently there is as a director has been found to take the reins.

Deadline reports Evil Dead remake helmer Fede Alvarez will sit in the director’s chair.

The film is an action/horror hybrid that finds the knight Dante Aligheri descending into the nine rings of Hell to rescue his beloved Beatrice.  Along the way he fights sundry demons while getting caught up in a war between Heaven and Hell.
