Hollywood To Take Another Crack at Island of Dr. Moreau, Somewhere, Richard Stanley Laughs

That said, Hollywood is going to try another adaptation.  We’ve received a few already: Island of the Lost Souls, being the best, and 1977’s The Island of Dr. Moreau with Burt Lancaster and Michael York.  Maybe it’s time for an update?

Enter Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way…

According to Deadline, the companies have tapped Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy to pen another take on the H.G. Wells novel.

The duo recently gave us Hemlock Grove and will tackle this tale of a scientist and his efforts to create human-animal hybrids.  The site adds that with this adaptation, “The intention is to make it a sci-fi film with a topical ecological message.”
