Mandalay, Vertigo to Produce Evil Talking Pets Project The Voices

The Voices centers on Jerry Hickfang, a lovable but strange bathtub factory worker who yearns for the attention of a woman in accounting.  When their relationship takes a sudden murderous turn, Jerry’s evil “talking” cat and benevolent “talking” dog lead him down a fantastical path that ultimately brings him to salvation.

Nothin’ wrong with an evil talking pet flick, right?  Hell, the talking dog was the best part of Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam

Mandalay’s Matthew Rhodes and Cathy Schulman with produce with Vertigo’s Roy Lee (The Ring, The Strangers).

Satrapi made her feature film debut with the animated Persepolis, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, which she adapted from her semi-autobiographical novel.  Satrapi was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Independent Spirit Awards for Best Feature, and she won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.  Her second film, Chicken with Plums, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, where it was nominated for The Golden Lion.  The film will be released by Sony Pictures Classics on September 27, 2012.
