Today, we’ve got producer Frank Marshall speaking to Vulture about the sequel, but first, a recap.
You might recall the film made headlines last month when writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were brought aboard to pen the script. They gave us Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so yes, I think that’s a fairly good move to hire them.
Then there was word that we will likely see the sequel within the next two years (likely 2014).
When press for details and asked if Jurassic Park 4 would be a reboot or a new tale set within the world of the first three films, Marshall told Vulture: “Don’t know yet, but it’s definitely in the Jurassic ballpark. It’s on the front burner.”
I can’t believe for a second that Marshall doesn’t know which direction Jaffa and Silver intend to take the series, but I appreciate the secrecy. My hope is that they go big, off of the island and into new territory. It’s pretty much time for that after the somewhat small, back-to-the-basic adventure that was Jurassic Park III.
