Sony’s Robocop remake is expected to arrive in theaters August 9, 2013. The original film, when it opened in 1987, was a mid-July release.
The redo is going to be directed by Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) and produced by Strike Entertainment (The Thing, Dawn of the Dead).
Joel Kinnaman will star as Alex Murphy, a Detroit cop who is transformed into the eponymous law enforcement officer.
MGM is shepherding the film, however, Sony will distribute.
