Studios Team With Primal Pictures for Low Budget Horror Movies

Primal Pictures is off to a strong start.  The new production outfit of producers Roy Lee, John Middleton and Lawrence Grey has six horror/genre pictures in development with various studios.

Lee is the man behind a lot of genre fare.  He produced The Ring and has Takashi Shimizu’s 7500 on the way.  Head inside for a look at the films that are in the works.

According to Deadline, Primal is shepherding the following scripts…

  • Hidden: A Warner Bros. film by writer-directors Matt and Ross Duffer.  The story focuses on a family who escape a mysterious outbreak by taking refuge in a bomb shelter.
  • The Cure: Another Warner Bros. film about a husband who uses a radical treatment to heal his ailing wife, but it leads to bad things.  Beau Michael Thorne penned the script.
  • The Vatican: A previously announced Warner Bros. film that will have The Devil Inside‘s William Brent Bell directing.
  • Viral:  For Screen Gems; Stephen Susco (The Grudge) will produce the story of a vengeful spirit who wreaks havoc on a high school student’s life when she leaves mean messages on the Facebook profile of a dead classmate. Tim and Matt Shechmeister will direct.
  • Rise:  Written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, to be directed by David Karlak.  It’s apparently a “fresh” story about a war between robots and mankind.
  • Tape 4: A modern-day Lovecraftian tale by writer Jeremy Slater.  Laurent Briet directs.

Well, there will be no shortage of horror on the way!  What sounds exciting to you?
