Interview: Del Toro, Holmes, Madison on Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

Crafting the creature remake

[Editor’s Note: This interview was first posted July 20th. We’re dragging it back out, in case you missed it, for the film’s release this Friday!]

The Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark team is going to be at Comic-Con this week, but we’ve got you covered. Shock exclusively spoke with stars Bailee Madison and Katie Holmes and writer/producer Guillermo del Toro about the creature feature opening August 26.

Based on the 1973 telefilm that del Toro believes is the scariest TV production ever made, the story follows Sally, a young girl who moves to Rhode Island to live with her father and his new girlfriend in the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. While exploring the house, Sally starts to hear voices coming from creatures in the basement whose hidden agenda is to claim her as one of their own.
