Paranormal Activity, Zombieland Continue Winning Streak

Weekend b.o. numbers are in

First, the big news. Since opening a bit wider this weekend, Oren Peli’s Paranormal Activity took in an estimated $7 million at the box office this weekend…in just 159 theaters. The supernatural chiller that’s catching on with audiences came in at number five.

This comes after an aggressive campaign on Paramount’s part to gauge the audience demand for the film (read more on that here). Well, America certainly responded.

Zombieland, meanwhile, slipped into second place behind the number one film, Couples Retreat, gobbling up another $15 million. That puts the zom-com’s total to $47.8 million.
